Lee has appeared on numerous television programmes, including Question of Sport (twice), GMTV (live), Grandstand (live), CBBC (live), Regional News (live!). Also he has been interviewed for numerous Daily newspapers, the Independent, Daily Mail, Telegraph etc,, and is regularly in National Equestrian magazines including Horse and Hound (& front cover), British Dressage (& front cover), Your Horse, Horse Magazine. His local and county newspapers have followed his success so much, he should have his own column!

 

INTERNATIONAL

May 2007 - Became the 1st Chairman of the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) Athletes Commitee.

May 2005 - A Nominee for the second time at the ‘Laureus World Sports Awards’ this time held in Portugal. Other British nominees were Amir Khan (Boxing), Paula Radcliffe (Runner), Kelly Holmes (Runner), Helen McCarthy (Sailor).

October 2004 - A Nominee and winner at the Eurosports SportsStar Awards held the Olympic museum Lausanne in Switzerland. The first time Paralympic athletes were included.

May 2001 - A Nominee at the ‘Laureus World Sports Awards’ held in Monaco. The only other representatives for Great Britain were Sir Steve Redgrave (Rowing) and Jenson Button (Formula 1). And yes I did feel out of my depth!!! Met many ‘Stars’ from Sport and Film, Daley Thompson, Cathy Freeman, Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Steps, and Jean Claude Van-Dam, just to name a few!!!

 
NATIONAL

January 2009 - New Year Honours List, an C.B.E.

December 2005 - Equestrian figurehead for the first ever horse Industry Strategy for England & Wales. Launched along with the Minister for the Horse Industry, Jim Knight.

December 2005 - Presented the BBC Midlands Sports Person with a Disability Award.

December 2005 - Entry into the British Horse Society Hall of Fame.

July 2005 - Received an Honorary Doctorate from Staffordshire University.

January 2005 - New Year Honours List, an O.B.E.

November 2004 - Animal Health Trust Awards - Nominee

December 2002 - Blue Circle Boy received the ’BEIB British Dressage Horse of the Year Award’ presented to him at ‘Olympia Horse of the Year Show’.

October 2001 - Received the ‘Animal Health Trust’ Sport Award from HRH Princess Anne, at the ’London Hilton’, Park Lane!

June 2001 - Received my New Years Honour, an M.B.E. from the Queen at Buckingham Palace.

April 2001 - A Guest at the televised ‘Pride of Britain Awards’ at the London Hilton, Park Lane.

February 2001 - Met the Queen of England at a Paralympic Reception at Buckingham Palace

January 2001 - Introduced to the Prime Minister at an Olympic and Paralympic Reception at the Science Museum, London.

December 2000 - Interviewed on the ‘BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards’ Live on a Sunday Evening, slightly nerve-racking!!!

December 2000 - 2005 A Celebrity Guest at the ’Children of Courage Awards’. Held At Westminster Abbey. The reason - I was one of the ’Children of Courage’ in 1980 !!!

December 2000 - Received the ‘British Equestrian Federation’s Medal of Honour’ Presented at Olympia horse show.

December 2000 - British Equestrian Writers Association ‘Personality of the Year’. Also presented at Olympia horse show.

October 2001 - A guest of RAF Cosford for the day. Flew in a stunt plane, loop the loop, roll overs & dive bombs! Then auctioned Sports Gear for charity along with Linford Christie, Tim Simson (Rugby) and Danny Crates (Paralympic Runner).

May 2001 - Received the ‘Equity Cup’ from the Stoke-on-Trent Sports Advisory Council.

 

LOCAL
 
August 2005 - Opened Ipstones Agricultural Show.

May 2005 - Stoke-on-Trent Male Sports Personality Of the Year

November 2004 - A Guest of Honour of the Elected Mayor at Stoke and North Staffordshire Citizen of the Year Awards.

December 2004 - Became the BBC Midlands Sports Person with a Disability winner.

October 2004 - Paraded in Leek in Ferrari convertible as Local Hero! 1000’s turned out to wave GB flags and cheer. Televised on BBC Midlands Today and local radio.

January 2002 - Became Leek Citizen of the Year.

September 2001 - Officially opened a new Mental Health Centre within my village. I now have my name on the wall, and a spare bed if needed!!

August 2001 - Started Sponsored Horse Ride in which five local Mayors rode five miles to raise money!!

August 2001 - Opened Ipstones Agricultural Show.

July 2001 - Opened the last Garden Party to be held at Cheddleton Psychiatric Hospital, due to be closed later this year.

June 2001 - Opened a brand new Playground for ‘Horton Lodge Special School’. A school that I used to attend until I was nine years old!

March 2001 - Sports Personality of the Year for Staffordshire Moorlands.

February 2001 - Sports Personality of the Year for Leek and District.

January 2001 - Citizen of the Year for Leek and District.

April 1999 - Sports Personality of the Year for Staffordshire Moorlands

November 1998 - Sports Personality of the Year for Leek and District.
